National Poetry Day
In honour of national poetry day, here’s a quick little poem inspired by our workshop!
In honour of national poetry day, we’ve decided to share a short poem about our workshop. Enjoy!
The workshop comes to life with fizzles and cracks.
It spins and purrs and pops as metals shift and lock.
The chair is no longer empty. Across the bench silver
meets gold meets platinum meets diamonds meets
hands. It’s bent, it’s cut, it’s reshaped. He watches
the change through a microscope. Strung around a coil
and transformed. Here precious metals become jewellery.
Century old stones become focal points. Pieces come in
and pieces come out. Not one leave unaffected.
They’re created, they’re repaired, they’re refashioned.
What’s old becomes new and what’s new becomes old.
This is how the day whirls on until suddenly
the buzzing calms down. No more fizzles and cracks.
The chair is abandoned. Lights switched off.
Everything is wrapped in an unknown calm.
Until a new day begins.
